Managing chronic pain effectively while ensuring patient safety is an important and challenging aspect of patient care. Together with your care team, you have the opportunity to enhance your approach to pain management, strengthen teamwork, and earn Board MOC points by participating in this QI project. Your QI journey will take approximately 2-4 months to complete and will guide you through an actionable framework to drive meaningful change in your practice.

This module is divided into three phases designed to help you navigate the QI process step-by-step: Assess, Improve, and Reflect:

Phase 1: Access

  • Begin by learning the fundamentals of Quality Improvement.
  • Collect baseline data to understand your current performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze your process and determine the root causes of existing gaps in care.
  • Create an actionable aim statement to define your improvement goals, and identify specific interventions to test.

Phase 2: Improve

  • Put your strategy into action by implementing changes through the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle.
  • Monitor your progress by collecting post-implementation data and comparing it with your baseline data.
  • Use the results to assess the success of your interventions and identify areas for continued focus.
